Bosnian pine

              Bosnian pines originate form south-east Europe, not just Bosnia. They are found in mountains and can withstand temperatures of as low as -45C.

Tree Identification

Pinus heldreichii:

Leaf:
5-10cm long, with needles which spring in all directions, like a brush.

nuts/fruit:
medium size cones with fragile scales.

Flowers:

bright yellow cones in dense clusters.
bark:
marked horizontal and vertical ridges which leave ash, grey plates.
shape:
grows to 35 metres; tall, thin.
general: only found in Kew gardens in London.
